Here something to keep the cravings at bay ;)
INGREDIENTS:
8 oz/225 g Self Raising Flour1 Teaspoon of baking powder
Pinch Salt
50g/2oz Butter
25g/1 oz Stork/Pure Margarine
105ml/1/4 pint of milk
Equipment
Scone Cutter
Baking tray
Pastry brush
Wooden Spoon
Mixing Bowl
COOKING SCONESS!!
- Oven at 230c/gas mark 8. Grease your baking tray.
- Sieve flour,salt and baking powder into the bowl.
- Cut the margarine into small pieces and add them to the bowl.
- Rub the mixture together using your finger tips until it looks like bread crumbs.
- Add the sugar and milk(plus the optionals)
- Mixing everything with the knife until its a soft dough.
- Knead the dough and roll it out on a floured surface.
- Cut the scones out with the cutter
- Place on a baking tray and brush over with a little milk.
- Bake for 7-10 mins on the top shelf...and let them cool on a wire tray when done!
ADAPTATIONS: If you are allergic to WHEAT opt to use doves Spelt flour together with buttermilk and wheat free baking powder. If you are aCOELIAC use Odlums Tryitaml flour, two tablespoons of gluten free baking powder and 1 tablespoon of xanthan gum.
